In the last year, Slovak films have been presented at numerous important international film festivals with a considerable success which considerably contributed to the visibility of Slovak cinematography in the international professional environment.  The discussion forum Slovak Films Around the World was aim at the current developments in the Slovak cinematography with special focus on the presentation of the Slovak films abroad.

Forum was organized by Slovak Film Insititute (Slovenský filmový ústav) in cooperation with Bratislava IFF, Slovak Film and Television Academy, MEDIA Desk Slovakia with the partner of the discussion Film New Europe took place in Palace Cinemas Aupark on December 4 during the Bratislava IFF.

A presentation of upcoming feature, documentary and animated films was held during the 8th Bratislava International Film Festival. It is an inherent part of the Bratislava IFF since 2005. MEDIA Desk Slovakia and the Slovak Film Institute joined the hosts of the event in 2006. Due to the large number of projects (over 200) in various stages of their realization (from screenwriting to postproduction), we will omit those in development (88) or the ones with only the screenplay completed (33). Among the projects in production and postproduction, we will focus on the films with their cinema release scheduled for 2007 and 2008.

The Slovak Film Institute only accepts payments by the specified payment method. Since the Institute has become a client of the State Treasury system on April 1, 2004, it cannot accept payments by credit cards or by checks.

It is the only library for film literature in Slovakia. Its funds consist of about 8,700 books, 1,573 screenplays, including fund of Slovak film scripts, taken over from Koliba Studios, j.s.c. The library also keeps diploma theses, textbooks, CDs with digitalized funds (30) and about 1,515 volumes of film magazines, Slovak as well as foreign.
